Poor Tiger

2 Dec

Poor, Poor Tiger Woods… after his accident and his marital problems (From the L.A. Times: “much remains unclear about 2:25 a.m. crash. Police say the golfer’s wife used club to break a back window to get him out of car”… she went after him in “a rit of fealous jage”! A golf club has many uses… always knew that!) you can now find all sorts of reenactments on youtube.

When Christmas meets Battlestar Galactica

26 Nov

Another ThinkGeek gadget: The Snowbot.

The ideal Christmas present for all you Battlestar Galactica lovers! Look at his eye…  it’s a Cylon I tell you! Disguised as Mister Snow!

From ThinkGeek:

“Before we destroyed the robots, however, we were able to learn two things. 1. Each army of robots uses a different color scanning light (red or blue); 2. We have no idea which side is in humanity’s best interest to win. So we built the Snowbot – a small, winter-themed beacon…and perhaps our only hope. Powered by a simple USB port, the Snowbot has a scanning light just like the robots from the future. You can change the speed of the scan, turn on/off the scanning noise, and (for future protection) change the scan color (red or blue). So no matter which robot army storms your home or office, a quick flick of a switch and you are rooting for the invader’s color. Hopefully then the robots will just make you a servant and not an appetizer. Good luck and happy holidays.”

The Pet Rock… now with USB

26 Nov

Pet Rocks were launched in the 1970’s by Gary Dahl, an advertising executive, in California. The idea was to sell a pet that didn’t need to be cared for… low-maintenance… and it worked! Pet rocks became a real phenomenon! Even I have one… his (it’s a male, I just know that) name is Andy. He lived a lonely life on the beach once, but I adopted him.

Now ThinkGeek launches the USB Pet Rock… an up-to-date rock, better and improved… because… it has a USB cable! Wondering what it does? Well… nothing! It’s just a rock with a USB cable… impressive!

Reasons from ThinkGeek why you need a USB Pet Rock now:

  • They make a great gift for everyone we can think of.
  • They don’t need food or water.
  • They don’t chew on your stuff.
  • They will make you instantly cool.
  • They never talk back to you.
  • They will forever love you in their own rocky way.
  • They are the greenest USB products ever created, as they draw absolutely no electricity.
  • They are compatible with Windows (7 and lower); Mac (all OS’s); Linux; and all other past, present, and future operating systems – no drivers needed!

Here comes the airplane!

23 Nov

Remember those good old days when your mother imitated a truck or a plane to feed you? Well… those times are at an end, because here comes the real thing:

The Illuminated Jetbib Feeding System (or IJFS)!

It even has an illuminated airstrip that helps you to move the target (the plane) in the good direction (straight to the mouth of your little one).

Star Wars

22 Nov

Because ‘Star Wars’ is my favourite movie… ever!!! (by this I mean episodes IV, V and VI, the newer ones just do not have that special “Star Wars spirit”…) and I’ve just finished watching the second season of ‘the Big Bang theory’:

Admiral Ackbar:

Sheldon from ‘the Big Bang Theory’:

oh… and I want this for my birthday next year:

The Jabbacake!

It really does look delicious… doesn’t it?!

Twilight Mania/ Twilight Maniacs

18 Nov

We can’t escape it… Stephenie Meyer’s ‘Twilight’ is everywhere! Television, radio, newspapers… etc. The timid Robert Pattinson can’t hide from the press anymore.

I do appreciate Twilight, the books and the first movie (still have to see ‘New Moon’)… and you do have to admit it, the saga’s hero (Edward Cullen) is simply dreamy (a thing men just wouldn’t understand!). But… some people go very far in their vampirelove, for example: I found this a couple of weeks ago on the internet… at every sip a sweet vampirekiss… No, seriously, this thing freaks me out!

The Guild

15 Nov

The Guild – “Do you wanna date my avatar?”

A series about MMORPG players (starring Felicia Day, you may recognize her from “Dr. Horribles Sing Along blog” with Neil Patrick Harris). Definitely worth the watch! You can follow their adventures on:

Hello world!

15 Nov

Hello everybody!

I finally got a blog online ^^.

I’ve been thinking about this for a couple of months already: a belgian blogspot for girl geeks… since there aren’t that many… and it’s finally here, woohoo.

Why BelleGeek?

– it’s for girls

– BelleGeek -> Belgique = Belgium (what a wonderful thing language can be 🙂 )

Wikipedia’s definition of Geek:

” The word geek is a slang term, noting individuals as “a peculiar or otherwise odd person, especially one who is perceived to be overly obsessed with one or more things including those of intellectuality, electronics, etc.  Formerly, the term referred to a carnival performer often billed as a wild man whose act usually includes biting the head off a live chicken, bat, snake or bugs.  (-> yeah… I still do that… sometimes…)

The 1976 edition of the American Heritage Dictionary included only the definition regarding geek shows.

This word comes from English dialect geek, geck: fool, freak; from Low German geck, from Middle Low German. The root geck still survives in Dutch gek: crazy, and in the Alsatian word Gickeleshut: geek’s hat, used in carnivals ”

And now we’re going to start with some serious work! (still hesitating if i’m going to continue in English or in French… we’ll see :))

See you soon!
